ADDING BORDERS ON A QUILT:
Measurements should be taken across the center of the quilt in
two or three places. Cut the two borders that length and pin them
to opposite sides, matching the centers and ends. Gently ease, sew
and press. Repeat on the remaining sides, measure in two or three
places, matching centers and ends. Ease, sew and press.
Backings should be seamed with the selvages trimmed off.
Quilts with the selvages untrimmed create extra tension in the
seams.
I would prefer that you would square up the backing for the
quilt; I will check this as it is important I have the correct
measurement through the entire quilt.
The backing and batting for the quilt must be AT LEAST 4 inches
larger than the quilt top. The extra will be
returned to you. Also if you would like me to trim your quilt to
size let me know.
Trim any extra threads that may have worked through the top,
they could end up being quilted to the top. Your top should be
pressed, not basted. Keep top, backing and batting separate.
I have these battings on hand: Hobbs 80/20 (King & Queen
size), Warm and
Natural (Queen), Mountain Mist 50/50, AirTex 16 oz poly
(Queen). It is much more reasonable for you to get this from me
as I have it on a large roll.
I have wool and black batting in Queen size.
I appreciate your quilts and enjoy quilting them, I know I can
only add to the beauty of your creation.
